For those of you who aren't in LA, and haven't heard about the fire here:

Griffith Park Fire Now 40 Percent Contained
600 Acres Scorched, 300 Residents Evacuated Tuesday

LOS ANGELES Hundreds of firefighters worked Wednesday to contain a wildfire that scorched more than 600 acres of brush in the Hollywood Hills and Los Feliz area and prompted the evacuation of some 300 people.

The fire was 40 percent contained Wednesday morning, according to Ron Myers of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

City Councilman Tom LaBonge said the Griffith Park Fire was the city's worst since the Bel Air fire of 1961.

The blaze broke out about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday just east of the Hollywood sign and quickly raced into the thick brush, fanned by winds of roughly 10 miles per hour amid bone-dry conditions and high temperatures.

For those of you who don't know much about LA/Griffith Park here's a a brief rundown. Griffith park is home to things like the Hollywood Sign, an amazing garden called Dante's Peak, the Greek Theatre, the Griffith Observatory (featured prominently in Rebel Without a Cause), the LA Zoo, two golf courses, and the Autry Museum. Angelenos use it to run, hike, golf, walk their dogs, and a bazillion other things. There's a beautiful carosel from 1926. People picnic there all the time. It's roughly 4200 acres, and the second largest park in California.

And it's completely surrounded by neighborhoods. Completely. That makes the liklihood of it jumping to the city very, very high.

I have visions in my head of the great London fire of 1666.... LA would go up like a box of matches.

Bah. New York.

Boston was good, excellent even. Saw homies.

Today is shooting and eating and more eating.

New latex and new shoes. I just need to put them to use, which shouldn't be an issue.

Having some stuff custom made by a private latex-tailor. Woot. I'm being adventurous and getting something in black. Seriously. Out of every single piece of latex that I own, not a single piece of it is black. I suppose it's about time I catch up on the traditional latex color. Bah. It'll be good.

Off for breakfast, a little French place with crepes I'd sell a ball for most days.

More likely than not my New York dates will be June 19-26, possibly with a few days in Chicago before that.

Today I ordered new platforms as well as another new pair of ballet boots, plus thinking about getting more Vex latex.

And I'm thinking about heading on down to LA here soon, seeing [info]fierce_couture and bunches of other people. Not sure on the dates yet.

Bah. I really want watch the rest of Season 2 of Deadwood. And Adaptation.

Achtung! You are 38% brainwashworthy, 63% antitolerant, and 47% blindly patriotic
Opportunistic, patriotic to a fault, and not so fond of people who aren't just like you, you are like a Nazi General. Back in Germany in the 1940's, you would have been at the top of the asshole list. Not for Nazism, necessarily, but for your own sick, twisted values. Then, out of superior intelligence (relative to other Nazis, that is), you would've climbed to the top.

Conclusion: you would have been a Nazi, and most likely would have served them well.

After three days of being in bed with a fever and trying to cough one (or both) my lungs out, things are finally getting better. Hopefully by tonight I'll be up to par, just in time for the weekend.

More likely than not I'll be in Santa Cruz for Saturday, then on Sunday in San Jose.

Finished watching Season 1 of Lost, started on Season 2 last night. I didn't think it would be that good, but it's like something that M. Night Shayalaman would right. Fuck, is is good.

Did a "hey, let's satisfy my curiosity" search last night on things like harliquin ichthyosis and I came accross the most beautiful human skull I have ever seen.

Thinking about watching Dangerous Liasons again. Mmmmm, John Malkovich.

SF Fetish Ball is over, time to sleep again. Eros Zine already has a review up, looks like the even was well recieved. All of the shows went well, saw a bunch of people (for a complete list, see [info]kumimonster's account of the weekend, she must have listed 50 peeps) and generally had a good time.

Might be going to San Diego next week, possibly make a stop in LA. Haven't decided yet.

Meanwhile designing more latex pieces.

Plus [info]sokkmonkey is going to have Libidex custom make him some stuff based on what he saw from Saturday.

Pics soon.

Tonight is my fitting with Simon of Libidex, then dinner with [info]sokkmonkey (maybe at the Stinky Rose?), then the first night of SFFB with the Gallery Opeing at the DNA Lounge.

Tomorrow is lots of busyness during the day, not unbusy till five or so, then party at Club Enslaved. Still not sure what I'm going to wear. Maybe I'll pick something up at Madame S tomorrow evening.

Saturday is main event. Lot of shiny things and booze, good combo.

Sleep and hangover on Sunday.

Maybe breakfast at Cafe Brasil in Santa Cruz if I can drag my ass out of bed.

Need to go shoe shopping too, pick up a couple of new pairs.

New latex from Vex coming.

And new Docs. And Converse. Ahhh, comfy shoes. At the moment I have on 4" stilettos and a pair of slippers in my bag that I may very soon be changing into.

Need to finish the pastel that I'm working on by tonight.

Too much freakin stuff going on.
